My Laser Hair Removal Experience

Hey Fam,

This post is gonna be a little more personal, but I just thought I'd share my experience with getting laser hair removal.

I have always struggled with razor bumps and ingrown hairs - which can be extremely painful and definitely not pleasant to look at. I have always been very insecure about being in a bathing suit for this reason.

I had been to my family doctor multiple times, tried many creams and treatments but nothing helped.

In 2016 I decided to investigate more into permanent hair removal treatments.

I found a dermatology clinic that is very reputable, so of course I made a consultation. It went very well, all of the laser technicians were very nice and understanding of my insecurity and reassured me that this happens to women and men all the time.

Once they explained all of the benefits to me I was convinced that this would be the best option for me.

Now I’ll break down how it actually works:

    1. It takes approx. 6-8 treatments
    2. Depending on your hair type and skin type you get a treatment every 6-8 weeks
    3. The laser is a handheld machine
    4. The pain is minimal; however, it gets stronger every treatment so I would explain the pain like a snapping elastic band against your skin
    5. The treatment for a full bikini area takes approx. 10 minutes/session
    6. The area is usually red after but for me personally I don’t find much discomfort
    7. I notice results about a week after every treatment the hair follicles begin to fall out
    8. After each treatment the hair follicles get thinner
    9. THE BEST PART: The razor bumps and ingrown hairs disappear!

Overall I have had a great experience so far. I have had 4 treatments so far and couldn’t be more impressed with my results.

Disclaimer: Not everyone will have the same results because everyone’s skin type, hair type and body reacts differently to any type of treatment.

All that I would recommend is that if you have problems with ingrown hairs or razor burn irritation; it’s something to research about and consider getting a consultation for yourself.

Everyone should be able to have a healthy body and mind, so if a laser treatment can do that, then why not look into it!

As always, hope this helped you all out.

Xoxo,
Crystal
